As a songwriter McGovern's voice gives life to narratives in the company of his haunting lap steel, Dobro, acoustic, and electric guitars. The sometimes stripped down Bluesy feel and the more modern sounding tracks contrast and harmonize in a unique way that brings his vision of these characters, lost and found in regret, love, anger, and despair, to life.
